Gopher Men 2nd After Day 1 at Big Tens

The University of Minnesota men's track team found itself in second place after the first day of competition at the Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Madison, Wisconsin.

Quentin Mege led the Gopher effort by setting a new school record in the hammer throw in winning his second consecutive Big Ten title in the event.  The Frenchman threw 220-1.

The Gopher women are in 7th-place after Friday's events.
