The Melrose native finished 13th in the first of two prelim flights, marking a jump of 43-5 3/4 on her final attempt.
Smock fouled on her first jump and leaped 42-7 1/2 on her second attempt.
Yamilé Aldama of Great Britain was the top qualifier at 47-11 3/4.
It took a jump of 46-2 3/4 to advance to tomorrow's final.
