Shakopee's Maria Hauger won an unprecedented third-straight MSHSL Class AA girls' cross country title with a come-from-behind victory over Alexandia's Jamie Piepenburg.
Hauger clocked 14:04.1 over the 4K course at St. Olaf College. Piepenburg ran 14:04.8. Jenna Truedson of Bemidji was third in 14:23.9.
Peipenburg led Hauger by some 15-meters in the final half-mile of the race after pulling away on the woodsy downhill 3200-meters into the race. The Shakopee junior, however, nipped the Alexandria senior in the final 10-meters of the race.
#1-ranked Monticello, runners-up a year ago, won the Class AA team title with 93 points. Lakeville South was second at 118; Wayzata was third with 140.

As usual, thanks for all the great coverage. I was about 600m from the finish and Hauger was about 5 seconds back. I thought she finished 2nd - until I got home and checked DtB.
