Before there was Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, there was a race called Park Point 5-Miler. Running it's 39th edition, Northern Minnesota's oldest road race will be held Friday evening in Duluth. As usual, the Park Point 5-Miler boasts some of the top racers from Duluth and all of Minnesota. Jen Houck and Jeremy Polson will return to defend their titles.
We will focus on Duluth resident Jen Houck with this question...
Jen Houck is the 2009 Runner of the Year for Minnesota. In 2010, Houck has transitioned from being a top Minnesota runner into a national-class athlete by virtue of her 2:39:02 Boston Marathon in April. She was 17th overall, third American and qualified for the Olympic Trials in this race. Houck also ran 1:15:48 at the 2010 Garry Bjorklund Half-Marathon finishing fourth.
