Yes/No: How Many 4 x 400 Provos at MIAC?

After last week's conference meets for Division I and II, we turn our attention to Division III and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. This year, the two-day meet is being held at Carleton College and starts Friday at 4:30 P.M.

A large number of MIAC athletes have already recorded qualifying marks for the National Meet and many others will attempt to do so this weekend. One of the best events will be last - the 4x400 relay which already has four teams provisionally qualified with others looking to hit that mark on Saturday.

Our question ...

Y/N: Will more than four teams (men and women) run provisional qualifying times for Nationals in the 4x400 at the MIAC meet on Saturday?

On the men's side, Bethel (3:18), Hamline (3:19), and St. Thomas (3:19) have all run well under the provisional mark of 3:21.00. Gustavus and St. Olaf could put together strong relay teams as well.

For the women, where a time of 4:00.00 is required to provisionally qualify, St. Thomas sports a very fast 3:56 and St. Kate's looks to be the closest pursuer, having run 4:03. Gustavus and Carleton also have an abundance of middle-distance talent and could run a fast relay, too.

My answer: No

Last week was the 2010 inaugural Pick 10 Contest. The winner was Jake Marotz with 45 points, followed by Dimitri Drekonja and Rachel Karel with 41.
