The annual Track and Field News rankings are out. Thirteen Minnesotans earned top-10 U.S. rankings from "The Bible of the Sport," including Kara Goucher and Philip Dunn, the #1-ranked athletes in the women's marathon and men's 50K racewalk, respectively.
Goucher, a Duluth native, earned the top spot in the marathon thanks to her 3rd-place finish at the Boston Marathon and 10th-place result at the World Championships. Goucher also earned a #4 ranking in the 5000m.
Dunn, a Carleton College alum, gained the #1-ranking in the 50K walk thanks to his victory at the USA 50K championships. Dunn is a three-time Olympian in the event.

Nothing for Josh Moen? He had such great performances this year. Surprising.
ReplyDeleteWhile Moen had the 13th-fastest U.S. 10,000m time in '09, his big splash was on the roads, which T&FN doesn't factor in to its U.S. track rankings.
ReplyDeleteMoen's 46:38 10M at Twin Cities is the 5th-fastest U.S. 10M of all time!
