Morgan Place and James Krajsa did all they could, but it wasn't enough to stop Augustana College (SD) from sweeping the women's and men's titles at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Bemidji.
Place, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, defended her women's individual title at the meet in 21:49, but her #12 Bulldogs had to settle for a runner-up finish to #10 Augustana 38-57. After Place, the Vikings beat UMD runner-for-runner to earn their second-straight NSIC women's crown.
The University of Mary (ND) finished 3rd with 81 points, Minnesota State - Mankato was 4th with 141, Minnesota State - Moorhead was 5th with 147.

Krajsa, the defending NSIC men's champ, clocked 25:34 for the individual victory, but again Augustana proved too strong, topping the Mavericks 36-68. The Vikings put three runners -- including former Zumbrota-Mazeppa star Travis Beniak -- between Krajsa and Mankato's #2-runner to power their victory.
Moorhead was 3rd with 86 points, followed by St. Cloud State with 118 and UMD with 125.
